Hip Hop made in France
Contrary to popular belief, I am one of those who believes that Hip Hop is in great shape. A butt-load of emerging MCs have been infusing new life in the Hip Hop scene. This new wave has been felt not only in the US, but in England and France. I want to share a few French rappers who have been a part of this awkening. The artists I chose falls under two "arbitrary"categories.
The first group of artists can be labeled as revivalist, advocating a return to old school Hip Hop aka "real hip hop" while the second group are more or less innovators who are trying to push hip hop beyond its comfort zone by learning from the past while looking forward, challenging the musical status quo.
Although both groups are stylistically different, they both emphasize the importance of lyrics which was pretty much lost in the mainstream arena - which is gospel to my ears. But anyways, enough rambling time to hear some musique.
